Invercargill’s got a thing with wheels: and if you’ve ever wanted to get a glimpse behind-the-scenes at the amazing Bill Richardson Transport World, now’s your chance.
To celebrate what would have been Bill Richardson’s 80th birthday, the Invercargill visitor attraction has something special in store. The Bill’s Birthday Back Shed Tour will give petrolheads the chance to see what makes New Zealand’s premier destination for everything wheeled tick.
To be held on Saturday 31 October, tickets to the Bill’s Birthday Back Shed Tour are strictly limited and they’re selling fast.
This is your chance to visit Transport World’s main Otepuni workshop, normally off-limits, and the Tyre Max building. Guests will be led by curator Graeme Williams and the talented workshop team, who will be on hand to chat about the pieces found within this treasure trove.
Next, guests will then head to Dig This Invercargill for a catered, barbecue lunch before finally arriving at Bill Richardson Transport World. This collection is home to more than 300 classic vehicles. Be captivated by Ford Letter Cars to trucks of every make and model and retro-cool Volkswagen Kombis. But here, there’s something for everyone. A wearable arts display, vintage vaults, and movie theatre will delight too. Transport World creator, businesswoman, and Bill Richardson’s daughter Joc O’Donnell will guide guests through this incredible collection. Be treated to plenty of personal anecdotes as Joc shares stories about the memories and vehicles housed within the collection founded by her father.
