In the mood to explore Southland, and keen to try the delicious wares created at artisan cafe The Jacobs River Bakehouse?
Don’t miss the newest café in the seaside town known affectionately as the ‘Riveria of the South’. Opened in Riverton in July, the new organic café is the brainchild of Lewis Beattie – who boasts 15 years’ experience as a chef throughout Southland and the North Island – and partner Samantha Anderson. It joins an impressive roster of options blending delicious food, great coffee and atmosphere in the Western Southland town.
Beattie and Anderson first started peddling their wares a year ago. The duo began making and selling artisan breads from their private commercial kitchen to locals in the know. But word got out and the pair’s creations quickly proved popular. The rest, as they say, is history!
Diners at the café will quickly find themselves ensconced in the comforting aroma of the breads that first made hungry Southlanders sit up and take notice. Take your pick from brioche bagels, focaccia, gluten-free sourdough, low carb hemp bread and more. Then, if you’re still hungry, sample favourites like the particularly delicious ginger slice.
Trust us, a visit to Jacobs River Bakehouse is worth the leisurely 30-minute drive to the quaint spot of Riverton. The town is home to a fabulous selection of quirky homeware stores, fantastic cafes, and charming beachside atmosphere. Follow your visit to The Jacobs River Bakehouse with a stroll along the picturesque Taramea Bay. Meanwhile, to see even more of the area, don’t miss exploring the Riverton Rocks either.
If you need some wheels to get you there, make sure you talk to us about our fabulous Route 6 Prestige Rentals vehicles.
